The BIOROCK-S is a 2 stage treatment system, raw sewage enters a primary tank from the house or building(Primary on the drawing above) this provides separation and initial breakdown of the waste water, the effluent will then pass through a filter on the outlet of the tank( marked filter on the drawing) before entering the Biorock treatment unit, the modules in there treatment zone are made from natural fibre material which is  pre-seeded with bacteria that helps the plant reach a start up period of only 24 hours.
The Biorock-S units can be retro fitted to septic tanks to provide secondary treatment.
For larger capacities you can install these units parallel (after a mutual primary tank). 15, 30, 45, 60, etc pe

Primary Settlement Stage:

The BIOROCK® units always require a primary tank (settlement tank). This provides separation and initial breakdown of the waste water it also houses the filter to the treatment zone.

The raw effluent is received in this stage for removal and retention of gross solids as sludge and also to provide the attenuation of the hydraulic flow.  Screens are not required and the heavier solids settle to form sludge and the light solids float to form scum, but a filter on the outlet is used.  These settled solids and scum need to be desludge for efficient and effective operation of the plant.

How it Works?

The treatment zone receives effluent from the primary tank, The BIOROCK® natural fibre material is pre-seeded with bacteria that has a start up period of only 24 hours. This area incorporates an aerobic filtration process this has enormous benefits for systems that will experience periodic or seasonal use as nearly all conventional systems
will fail to meet their discharge consent standards for several weeks of months when occupation resumes.  The BIOROCK® will be fully functioning in 24 hours and remain functioning, even after 7 months without use.
